Here’s a rare glimpse of luck in an otherwise very unlucky month: rainfall hit Southern California right as artist Bradley Clayton’s plane from New York landed into LAX. This meant that the toxic air quality had been given a cleansing, and the fires in LA given another prong of attack to finally settle down. There were plenty of other risks and concerns, sure, but Bradley didn’t fly into a weeklong trip where we’d have to cancel, shift, or adjust any of our plans to promote West Hollywood Monster Squad.
I’m including some pics from the West Hollywood Monster Squad launch at Book Soup, a Weho staple and legendary book shop in its own right. We packed the house and sold out of hardcovers. There were a handful of softcovers left when we bounced. Tuesday was a night when so many events had been rescheduled to, and it meant the world to see people come through and celebrate with us.
What a wonderful night!! We were so blessed to have a great intro by Mariko Tamaki, a stupendous discussion with Oscar Montoya, and an iconic drag performance by Hitchcock Blonde!
Bradley and I have a few more things in store for you. The entirety of their trip was spent doing podcasts, Instagram lives, signings at shops, and recording content for later use. It’s been hard to promote a book in the midst of everything, but we’re so damn proud of it, and the messages within are sadly still so relevant and necessary.
Please pick up the book and spread the word!!!!! Now more than ever you all need to read a book about the power of friendship, and queer joy as resistance.
