There is a little over a week left in my Life On Paws Kickstarter, and we are so dang close to the next stretch goal, I am frickin’ excited and hopeful! I’ve sent a PDF to some friends in comics for blurbs, and have already gotten some deeply kind words about what they read. This weekend marked the two-year anniversary of having to say goodbye to Henry, and without knowing the exact date off the top of my head, I knew the exact date, because I was crying in front of my co-workers at the prospect of fostering a dog.
Below you’ll read a portion from the book that has been my truth for a very long time. I can’t think about getting another dog because all I’ll see is the timer for when they die. I think that will always be an anxiety I have (this happens with people I love, friendships I have, lol), but something happened last week that was an absolutely new feeling: what if everything works out with this one… what if it just gets to be easy?
My friend Halley showed me an absolutely adorable dog that felt different than any other foster or rescue that’s been sent my way. I haven’t even met the guy yet, but when I saw his picture, I felt hopeful. I shouldn’t even be sharing this because I am 90% sure this dog has an owner who was dumb and didn’t chip him and will pick him up and I’ll go back to my insane summer of work + fun I’ve planned out, but I dunno. It’s just wild that my gut reaction wasn’t what occurs in the following sequence:
Speaking of work + fun…
I will be tabling at QCon in West Hollywood this Saturday! Please stop by, I’m going to have two new Lady Gaga-inspired prints, a new sticker, and some drawings for sale.
Speaking of Lady Gaga…
One of the prints I’ll have at QCon is the flyer image for MAYHAM, Beargarden’s Lady Gaga-inspired event this month. One of my favorite Portland queens TOMBOY is flying in to do their Los Angeles debut for it, and I will be creating a few more visuals to make it extra special. I’ll take you to the Beargarden of Eden!

I also fleshed out one of my earlier Mayhem drawings and made it a cute little print too. Special thanks to Jack Foster for making a font out of his beautiful handwriting, and being gracious about me using it 24/7 on all my art moving forward.
Alright, that’s all I’ve got for right now! See you all this weekend <3
